The Gold Plated Engraved Celtic Cross Pendant from Solvar is a beautiful piece of contemporary Irish design, featuring a standard Celtic cross engraved with detailed Celtic knot patterns.

The Celtic Cross itself is a uniquely Irish creation, the first stone carved versions date back nearly to the time of St. Patrick himself in the 5th century. By the time the megalithic carved form reached its golden era between the 9th and 12th centuries, some could stand upwards of eight feet high.

The crosses often incorporated intricate carvings of Celtic knots, like this pendant, which was a pre-Christian form of Irish art that signified the interrelated nature of heaven, earth, and humanity, must as the Christian Trinity does today.
